Parker County residents looking for financial assistance to purchase or build storm shelters or safe rooms can now sign up with an online waiting list through the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
Those wishing to be placed on the Parker County list will need to log on to www.nctsaferoom.com. No documentation will be required to be on the list, just name and address only. Those without Internet access may call the NCTCOG Emergency Preparedness department at 817-695-9235.
Once the list opens, it will not close, according to NCTCOG officials.
NCTCOG officials say it may take three to 18 months for those who sign up to be contacted once residents have placed their name on the list.
To participate applicants must be living or developing in Parker County and must not be living in a designated 100-year floodplain.
