Weatherford Democrat

— An evening program on getting started in beekeeping, offered by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Parker County, is Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Agricultural Services Center, 604 N. Main St., Weatherford.

Registration is $10 per person and may be paid at the door. This program is for people who are interested in bees and beekeeping, but don’t know where to start, said Jon Green, AgriLife Extension Agent, Parker County.

Green said the program will consist of presentations by beekeepers Bill Young and La Vonda Becker, both of the Dino-Bee Beekeepers Club. Their topics will cover bee biology and behavior, setting up a hive and the items needed, bee health and other related topics.

Also, Rod Owen, of the Parker County Appraisal District, will be present to discuss agriculture valuation of property from beekeeping.
