The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Score A Goal In The Classroom School Incentive Program will honor Aledo ISD’s Joey Paul, this year’s recipient of the prestigious Bayard H. Friedman HERO Award.
Paul was selected as the most outstanding band director in North Texas. The awards presentation will take place at the Fort Worth Symphony’s performance at the Concert in the Park at 8 p.m. on June 9.
The Bayard H. Freidman Hero Award has been established in Freidman’s memory to honor outstanding school employees.
For the past 20 years, Paul has made a very significant and positive impact on the growth of the Aledo High School band program, according to school officials.
He received his bachelor’s degree in music from Texas Tech University, and his master’s degree in education from Texas Christian University. He and his wife, Karen, have two children – Gustin and Tyler, who share his love for music.
In addition to the HERO Award, XTO Energy — an Exxon Mobile subsidiary — will present Paul with a $1,000 honorarium in appreciation for all he does for the community.
