Aledo AdvoCats’ 9th annual Run, Walk or Crawl

Weatherford Democrat

The Aledo Children’s AdvoCats has kicked off its sponsorship drive for the 9th Annual Run, Walk or Crawl for our Kids.

This is the sole fundraising event for the organization and will be held March 22 on the grounds of the Aledo High School campus.

The AdvoCats have been fortunate to give back more than $600,000 to the community since 2002.

“This past year, we were met with some catastrophic situations for several of our AISD students,” said Lori Martin. “We dealt with a situation requiring life-threatening dental work. We are still heavily involved with a community-wide initiative to help an Aledo ISD heart transplant survivor. This is in addition to our normal activities of providing our families with food, medical, dental, school supplies/field trips, Angel Project, extracurricular school activities, and various other expenses. This year our Angel Project, alone, serviced 371 children. Our Clothes Closet services an average of 140 people per month. Please keep in mind that the children receiving help through our organization are all enrolled in Aledo ISD.”

All monies raised is used towards charitable efforts.

Sponsorships are available at Spirit ($250), Bronze ($1,000), Silver ($1,500), Gold ($2,500) and Platinum ($5,000) levels. Publicity depends on the level of sponsorship, but can include visibility in area newspapers, flyers, posters, brochures, banners and website links. The different levels can include complimentary race entries, race T-shirts, VIP parking passes and entrance into the VIP Sponsor area.

The race will include a kid’s 1K run prior to the 5K.

Following the race, Treads, Treasures, & Treats will be setting up to sell merchandise. Food will be providing free treats for the whole family. More than 700 registered runners and dozens of businesses and community organizations participated in last year’s race.

“We are expecting a great turnout this year as well,” Martin said. “The success of our organization is due to the generous gifts of local businesses and individuals. With your support, we can continue to serve the needs of our own community and make a difference in the lives of the children who live here. Thanks to you and the hundreds of others who have supported the AdvoCats, but more importantly, thank you for supporting the children with your compassion and commitment.”
