The annual event will be held at the Taylor County Fairgrounds Display Building, 1700 Texas 36, starting at noon. There will be food, drinks, and a VSO Show. Bring some “in country” memorabilia, as well as friends and family. For any additional information, contact 325-690-0750 or 325-672-4003.

There will be a free Franchise Expo for veterans and military spouses in Houston on Saturday, Feb. 8. This event will be held at the Reliant Center, Room 305. Starting time is 10 a.m.

There will be hundreds of franchise brands available to discuss what it takes to be a franchisee and how they can support you. This expo is sponsored by VetFran. Additional information can be accessed at www.vetfran.com.

Channel renaming

Discovery Communications will rename its Military Channel to American Heroes Channel effective March 3. This channel will debut in 62 million homes, promising to honor the great defenders of our freedom while providing a rare glimpse into major events that shaped our world and the trailblazers and unexpected advocates who made a difference.

Four episodes will air March 3-9. Each will be a world premiere, unveiling the startling truths and hidden histories behind each event. First to air will be, “Raw War: The Lost Film Of Dak To,” on Monday, March 3, at 9/8c followed by, “Against The Odds,” also on March 3, at 10/9c. These two initial shows will then be followed by “CIA: Declassified,” on Tuesday, March 4, 10/9c and “Codes and Conspiracies,” Sunday, March 9, at 10/9c.

Discovery Communications continues to bring factual and informative viewing to all.

Remember those flu shots. Speak to you again next week.

Jim Vines is commander of AmVets Post 133.
