Photographer indicted on 22 counts

A Weatherford photographer was back in jail Wednesday after a Parker County grand jury indicted the man last week on child pornography and other offenses.

The 22-count indictment indicates 39-year-old Dax Morgan was charged in connection with incidents involving six juvenile victims, including three he allegedly photographed or recorded in a bathroom without their consent.

He was also indicted on a charge of indecency with a child, accused of fondling a juvenile girl, as well as 18 counts of possession with intent to promote child pornography regarding allegations he took photographs of nude juvenile victims.

According to the indictment, many of the photographs were taken in May, June and September 2013.

Morgan was originally arrested Oct. 1 on the charge of indecency with a child days after a 16-year-old girl’s parents contacted authorities last year.

Morgan - who operated Touchline Studios and often took photos at Weatherford ISD sporting events, including as a stringer for a monthly Weatherford magazine - reportedly met the girl on the sidelines of a game.

After the girl’s parents noticed a text from Morgan to the girl, the high school student told authorities that Morgan inappropriately touched her while giving her a full body massage following a private photo shoot at his home that her parents were unaware of.

Investigators also reportedly found topless photos of the girl on photography equipment seized from Morgan’s home during the investigation, according to court records.

Shortly after bonding out of jail on the indecency charge in October, investigators allege Morgan contacted a 15-year-old girl despite bond conditions prohibiting contact with those under 17 years old. He was arrested again Oct. 4 and released Oct. 7 on $50,000 bond.

Morgan reportedly turned himself in early Wednesday morning at the Parker County Jail on the new allegations in the indictment.

Morgan was released later Wednesday on $375,000 bond on the new charges, according to jail records.
