Aledo High School Band campers braved high temperatures Wednesday as they put together routines for the upcoming football season. National Weather Service stations at Meacham and DFW Airports recorded a high of 105 degrees, according to a NWS meteorologist, with the scorcher tying June 28 as the hottest day of the summer so far. Many of the campers carried water-filled backpacks to stay hydrated.

New Vandagriff principal
Aledo ISD trustees selected Stephanie Adams, assistant principal at Stuard Elementary since 2010, as the new principal of Vandagriff Elementary during a special meeting of the school board Dec. 3.
Local Option petition drive ending
Aledo residents who went door to door asking locals to sign a petition to put city alcohol sales on the ballot in May have met and exceeded the 239 signatures required, according to George McGee, a spokesman for those who applied for the petition Oct. 7.
