— Staff Reports

CrossFit City View, located near downtown Aledo, will host Parker County’s first ever mud run on Saturday, Oct. 19.

“Mud, Sweat & Tears 2013,” which will feature a 1-mile for kids and a 5K for adults, will take place at Clear Fork Materials, 800 Old Annetta Road, in Aledo. All proceeds will benefit Young Life Aledo, a non-profit that provides Aledo’s teens a place to socialize and build relationships with their peers.

“The mud run put on by CrossFit City View benefits our cause, and we are so grateful,” said Ryan Aldridge, director of Young Life Aledo. “Young Life exists so adults can build relationships with high school students and share not only the gospel, but also their lives with them. We encourage the community to come out and run and learn more about Young Life.”

The 3.2-mile course will contain more than 15 obstacles to conquer including rope climbing, crawling through tires, running through the river and up hills and sliding into mud. Mini workouts of the day and fun challenges throughout the course will add excitement. Giveaways and a food truck are planned — all registered runners will receive a free meal and water — and costumes are encouraged!

“We are so excited to be bringing the first ever mud run to Parker County, and we feel super blessed to be a small part of something big like Young Life,” said Amy Mays, owner of CrossFit City View. “There will be lots of mud, music and fun!”

“Mud, Sweat & Tears 2013” begins at 1 p.m. on Oct. 19 with the 1-mile kid run. The first heat for the 5k mud run begins at 2 p.m. Heats will run every 30 minutes.

Early registration is encouraged to ensure receipt of a T-shirt and goody bag. Participants can register by going online at www.crossfitcityview.com and clicking on the Mud Run link.

Registration is $30 for the 1-mile kid run and $50 for the 5k mud run, with discounts for multiple family members. Pre-race day packet/T-shirt pick-up will be at CrossFit City View, 1151 Underwood Road, Aledo, on Thursday, Oct. 17 and Friday, Oct. 18 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Check-in on race day begins at noon at Clear Fork Materials.
