EMPTY BOWLS FORT WORTH: An artful taste to ending hunger

Event delights the artistic eye, tickles the taste buds and helps Tarrant Area Food Bank and its partner charities in Parker and 12 other counties

FORT WORTH – Ceramic artists Carolyn Young and Orbry Chamblee, of Weatherford, and Carole Standridge, of Millsap, are contributing their time and talents to help fill the empty bowls of hungry neighbors.

The three Parker County residents are creating bowls for guests to take home from the 12th annual EMPTY BOWLS FORT WORTH: An Artful Taste to End Hunger, presented by Tom Thumb, on March 27, benefiting Tarrant Area Food Bank and its partner hunger-relief charities in Parker and 12 other counties.

Orbry, Standridge and Young are among hundreds of professional, student and recreational artisans contributing 2,500 or more bowls and other art pieces for the event.

Young works in her studio, Earth to Art Pottery, in Weatherford, while Chamblee and Standridge create bowls in the Lockheed Martin Recreation Association Pottery Studio in Fort Worth.

Parker County charities served by Tarrant Area Food Bank and benefiting from Empty Bowls include Center of Hope/East Parker County and Parker County, Fathers Wish Food Ministry, Freedom House, Friendship Baptist Church, Manna Storehouse, Parker County Committee on Aging and South Main Church of Christ. Also served by TAFB are Life & Liberty Food Pantry, in Azle; First Baptist Church Food Pantry, of Castle Hill; and in Springtown, Neighbor to Neighbors, Outreach of Love Church and Song in the Night Ministries.

EMPTY BOWLS Fort Worth will take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 27 in the Amon G. Carter Exhibition Hall at Will Rogers Memorial Center, 3401 W. Lancaster, Fort Worth, 76107. At the lunch-time event, the 1,500 or more guests each select a bowl to take home from among the ceramic, wood, china, glass and fabric bowls donated by North Texas artisans and sample soups and desserts by some of North Texas’ finest restaurants.

To purchase admission and raffle tickets and for more information, visit or, or call 817-332-9177. Admission tickets are sold in advance only. No admission tickets will be sold the day of the event.
