The design for a new Aledo City Hall was approved by the Aledo City Council by a 3-1 margin Thursday. The plan is conceptual, along with the site plan and floor plan that were also approved, but the motion specified dormers to break up the long, flat roofline.
Voting in favor of the preliminary plans were council members Matt Casey, Jean Bailey and Kim Hiebert. Mayor Pro Tem Bill McLeRoy voting against, saying the design appeared fragmented, rather than unified. Council member Kerby Smith was absent.
Architects from Callahan & Freeman stressed the designs could be changed. Funding for the project, which was redesigned to fit with the design for Aledo Trail, is not available.
