Annetta North territory on ballot for ESD NO. 3 annexation

BY JUDY SHERIDAN

East Parker County residents will vote on whether territory in and around Annetta North becomes part of Hudson Oaks-based Emergency Services District No. 3 in Nov. 5 elections.

The proposed annexation area is about 2 square miles or less, according to ESD No. 3 Fire Chief Pat English, with one section east of FM Road 5 and the other west of Annetta Centerpoint Road.

The area includes land inside the city limits of Annetta North as well as within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Annetta North and the City of Weatherford.

It includes some 60 to 70 homes, English said.

The annexation petition, submitted by property owners in July, contains 83 signatures, 67 of which were accepted by Parker County election officials. Fifty signatures are required.

Most of the petitioners live on Quail Ridge Road, but others reside on Hillmont Ranch Road, Airport Road, Buck Dobbs, Vineyard, East Bankhead Drive, Centerpoint and Atlee.

If the election is successful, English said, all of Annetta North will be included in ESD No. 3, except for the portion on the east side annexed by ESD No. 1 in May.

ESDs are taxing entities, and ESD No. 3 currently assesses a tax of 10 cents per $100 valuation for fire and emergency services, the state maximum.
