"Wild" and "awesome" were adjectives used by Aledo resident Brent Lawler moments after he and retired Navy elite parachutist Jim Wood made a sliding landing before thousands of people in Voyles Park in Hudson Oaks for 'Boomin' 4th.
Lawler and his wife, Dana, purchased three chances in a tandem jump drawing, and Lawler won. He was whisked to the nearby airport and about 30 minutes later was making his first-ever parachute jump from a height of 10,000 feet in the air.
The jump was part of the second annual music and fireworks show sponsored by the City of Hudson Oaks and the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce. Thousands attended the event.
