Woman kidnapped by hitchhiker rescued
Weatherford police Friday morning rescued a woman reportedly kidnapped and held by a hitchhiker with a box cutter after she was able to call for help.

Judge Ben Akers dies
County Court at Law No. 2 Judge Charles Benjamin Akers, 57, described by his colleagues as fair and impartial, died shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday at his home after a lengthy illness.
Animal shelter to provide services to Willow Park
At last week's regular Weatherford City Council meeting, the council approved entering into an interlocal agreement between Weatherford and Willow Park, where the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter will provide certain animal control services to Willow Park.

A man accused of scamming an 89-year-old Parker County woman out of nearly $10,000 in May was arrested Thursday in an Oklahoma casino, according to authorities.

Burglary of habitation
At approximately 3:55 p.m., deputies responded to the 600 block of Canyon Lake Drive, Aledo, in reference to a burglary investigation. Deputies met with the victim, 44, who stated that within the last week a television had been stolen from his barn residence. An investigation was generated for burglary of habitation, a second degree felony.
Aledo convenience store burglar sought
The Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating suspects who burglarized the Aledo Bearcat Cafe convenience store early Wednesday morning.
Two charged with capital murder
A man and woman have been charged with capital murder in the May 22 death of a Parker County man.
