60th Anniversary
Kenneth and LaVerne Alexander celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 22, 2009. They were married in Commerce, Texas, where they had met as children. After living briefly in Fort Worth, they moved to Weatherford to start a family in 1951.
Ken, a World War II Navy veteran, then worked for Convair (later General Dynamics). while LaVerne cared for their two boys. In 1962, LaVerne began her nursing career and Ken went to work as a flight inspector for Bell Helicopter in Hurst, where they moved in 1968. Ken retired from Bell in 1990, and they returned to Weatherford in 1991.
LaVerne and Kenneth were active members at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford from its beginning (1957) through the 1960’s and again during the 1990’s. They have been members of First Baptist Church, Weatherford, since 1998.
They have two sons, James (Jay) Alexander of Euless, who has two sons, Sean, 24, and Cody, 17, and Duncan (Dee) Alexander of Weatherford, who has a daughter, Bethany, 15. Their latest joy is their 6 1/2-month-old great-grandson, Michael Rohan Alexander (Sean’s son).
Family and friends all share the celebration of this milestone occasion.
