TOTS latest production opens Feb. 12

WEATHERFORD — WEATHERFORD – Theatre Off the Square in Weatherford invites you to visit Fayro, Texas once again when the Futrelle Sisters return in "Southern Hospitality," written by Jones, Hope and Wooten and courtesy of Dramatists Play Service. Beginning Friday, Feb. 12, and running weekends through Feb. 28, "Southern Hospitality" is the third in the trilogy about the Futrelle Sisters and their beloved hometown of Fayro, Texas. The saga of the sisters began with "Dearly Beloved" and was followed by "Christmas Belles," both of which have been Theatre Off the Square productions. With "Southern Hospitality" completing the series and being performed at Theatre Off the Square as well, playwrights Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten have officially placed Theatre Off the Square in their Fayro Hall of Fame.

As Southern Hospitality begins, it is apparent Fayro, Texas is in dire straits and on the verge of going under if something doesn’t happen soon to bring business back to town. Several of the local businesses have had to close and people have been moving away from Fayro in droves. When the president of the Fayro Chamber of Commerce (who just happens to be Honey Raye Futrelle) is contacted by a Connecticut salsa company looking to relocate, the town moves into action to make Fayro look like the perfect place for Senora Caliente’s Salsa Factory to call home. Plans are thrown together for Fayro Days Festival which includes a beauty pageant, petting zoo and a Civil War Battle re-enactment, just to name a few activities. But when the other factors of Fayro life are thrown in the mix, such as Justin and GJ trying to solve financial problems by gambling; an unpleasant relative making a visit; Dub in the throes of a mid-life crisis; Honey Raye and Rhonda Lynn competing for boyfriends and Twink’s determination to get married, staging a Civil War Battle re-enactment should be easy in comparison.

Cast members reprising their roles are Naomi Wood as Geneva; Jon Kruse as Dub; Rodger Johnson as John Curtis; Christopher Reaves as Justin; Chuck Hudson as Raynerd; Lana Robinson as Honey Raye; Holly Kiehn as Twink; and Nikki Hinson as GJ. New to the cast are Yvonne Hall, Robert Copeland, Carrie Bracken, Rebecca Young and Loree Long. Ray Shannon is director and Nik Braswell is assistant director.

"Southern Hospitality" runs Feb. 12-28, with Friday and Saturday performances beginning at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees beginning at 2 p.m.  Theatre Off the Square is located at 114 N. Denton in Weatherford. Tickets are $10 in advance at Weatherford Chamber of Commerce and Weatherford Senior Center. Prices at the door are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and matinee tickets for $9. Complimentary Blue Bell Southern Hospitality flavored ice cream will be available to audience members, made possible by a generous donation by Blue Bell Creameries. Tickets may be purchased online by visiting www.ticketstothecity.com and selecting Theatre Off the Square. Season tickets are on sale at the box office. Reserved seating is available and recommended by calling (817) 341-8687. Due to early reservation requests, limited seating is available for Saturday, Feb. 27. For information, visit www.weatherfordtots.org.
