New Weed Man in town

HUDSON OAKS — Kyle Jaber decided to go back to his roots.

After 13 years in pharmaceutical sales, Jaber had enough of the corporate world and has opened a Weed Man franchise based out of his residence. Weed Man of Weatherford/Central Fort Worth not only services Weatherford and eastern Parker County areas but goes into Fort Worth and the Mid Cities as well.

Owning his own business is kind of a dream for the 42-year-old Jaber, who spent eight years of his wife working for a national pest care company before trying sales. While working in pest control, an acquaintance of his contacted him while he was living in Alberquerque, N.M. He took the job and spent the next 13 years “on the corporate path.”

He began considering getting out of sales about 6 or 7 years ago, saying he was initially happy with the position but the business began changing and disillusioned Jaber. Owning a business is kind of a family affair, as his father, uncle and grandfather have all done it.

“My dad owned a paint shop and neither he nor my uncle or grandfather never worked for anyone,” Jaber said. “I knew I wanted to do something like that and I thought about going into the family business and now I have.”

Jaber admits starting his own business and being his own boss has been “the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life” but the response so far has been good. The business officially took off April 1 and has been solid in the initial few weeks.

“I’ve picked up about 20 or 30 customers just around my neighborhood and even that is picking up,” Jaber said.

When choosing a franchise, Jaber said he wanted a company that had the best training and a great system already in place, which Weed Man does, Jaber said. The Weed Man franchise is a perfect fit, leveraging Jaber’s passion for the green industry, his background in business and sales, and access to great support through a national network and brand.

Weed Man is North America’s leading lawn care franchise company, offering environmentally responsible fertilization, weed control and integrated pest management services. The Weed Man franchise has been in business for more than 40 years and has more than 265 territories throughout the United States.

Neighbors have told Jaber he has the best looking lawn in the area, which Jaber insists he can do for his customers.

“Our motto at Weed Man is “we will care for your lawn as it it was our own!”  And frankly, that is exactly what I do,” Jaber said.  “The same treatments I do for my own lawn are the same as what I will do for the customer.”

The affable Jaber says his customer service philosophy is based on the 3R’s: right products, right timing; and right application (importantly a safe application.) Many homeowners believe and take pride in doing their lawn themselves but, for about the same amount of money, Jaber says he can do the job with better results.

“The bottom line is that if a homeowner looks to do this correctly at the right time and safely, they may likely spend as much if not more than calling a professional like Weed Man of Weatherford,” Jaber said.  “And the big difference is that our results are guaranteed based on 43 years of experience.”

Jaber is offering a grand opening special for first time customers, charging $29.95 for an initial application which includes fertilizer and spot weed control for up to a 5,000 square-foot lot. For more information on Weed Man and the local business, contact Jaber at 817-983-3600.
