MyDentist, a new facility with state of the art dental techniques, has opened in Weatherford at 1806 S. Main, next door to Firestone.

My Dentist is a family of dental practices in Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Kansas and Arkansas. Founded in 1983 by Pat Steffen, DDS, My Dentist provides general dentistry, with specialists in orthodontics and oral surgery. Because My Dentist is a group practice, patients benefit from the combined knowledge and experience of all the hygienists, general dentists and specialists in the group.

The local office, with dentists Andy Lee and Daniel Nnadiugwu in charge, opened Nov. 4 and the two dentists say business to start has been slow but steady. Lee is a Los Angeles native who graduated from Loma Linda University Dental School. Nnadiugwu, whose parents hail from Nigeria, is from Philadelphia and attended Howard University Dental School. He was working for MyDentist in Wichita, Kan. when the opportunity to move came up and he decided to move south, which he did back in August.

Some of the modern conveniences offered at MyDentist to make the overall patient experience more pleasant including a panoramic view of taking digital X-rays. A patient stands under a machine which takes a 360-degree view of the head and jaw, eliminating the need for the uncomfortable cardboard pieces in the mouth.

Patients can see what the dentist is seeing via monitors at all 10 work stations with the panoramic camera providing a better angle to see cavities and other dental work to be done, Lee said. A new drilling procedure that uses water can also help ease patient fears of going to the dentist. Nnadiugwu said.

“The whole staff is very patient care oriented,” Lee said. “We want our patients to be educated about the whole experience and be comfortable here.”
