MyDentist, a new facility with state of the art dental techniques, has opened in Weatherford at 1806 S. Main, next door to Firestone.

My Dentist is a family of dental practices in Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Kansas and Arkansas. Founded in 1983 by Pat Steffen, DDS, My Dentist provides general dentistry, with specialists in orthodontics and oral surgery. Because My Dentist is a group practice, patients benefit from the combined knowledge and experience of all the hygienists, general dentists and specialists in the group.

The local office, with dentists Andy Lee and Daniel Nnadiugwu in charge, opened Nov. 4 and the two dentists say business to start has been slow but steady. Lee is a Los Angeles native who graduated from Loma Linda University Dental School. Nnadiugwu, whose parents hail from Nigeria, is from Philadelphia and attended Howard University Dental School. He was working for MyDentist in Wichita, Kan. when the opportunity to move came up and he decided to move south, which he did back in August.

Some of the modern conveniences offered at MyDentist to make the overall patient experience more pleasant including a panoramic view of taking digital X-rays. A patient stands under a machine which takes a 360-degree view of the head and jaw, eliminating the need for the uncomfortable cardboard pieces in the mouth.

Patients can see what the dentist is seeing via monitors at all 10 work stations with the panoramic camera providing a better angle to see cavities and other dental work to be done, Lee said. A new drilling procedure that uses water can also help ease patient fears of going to the dentist. Nnadiugwu said.

“The whole staff is very patient care oriented,” Lee said. “We want our patients to be educated about the whole experience and be comfortable here.”

Nnadiugwu said both he and Lee undergo continuous training to stay on top of the newest technology. MyDentist tends to focus in more rural areas in an attempt to provide everyone affordable comprehensive dental care but does have locations in major markets as well, Lee said.

Other modern conveniences include the ability to text or e-mail to make an appointment through the company website or by calling 817-374-4597.

“The continued expansion of small businesses in Weatherford and the entrepreneurship throughout the community propelled My Dentist to want to serve this growing area,” said Kevin Offel, My Dentist CEO in a press release. “The underserved community of Weatherford needs quality dental care they can depend on for the best technology and treatment, and we’re excited to bring that with our new practice.”

In a grand opening special, Nnadiugwu said the location is offering a $10,000 mouth makeover for one lucky area resident. The winner will be announced at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for the business Nov, 26.

“We want to find deserving people who can use a hand,” Nnadiugwu said.

For information on how to apply for the makeover, visit the company website at Other grand opening specials include a cleaning, X-ray and exam for $39 for adults and $18 for children. Teethwhitening specials for $199 are also being offered.

MyDentist is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
