Going for two

By BRIAN SMITH

Opening one business in a town is tough. Opening two at close to the same time is even tougher.

Identical twin brothers Danny and Jimmy Lee have done just that recently, opening S7C, or Studio 7 Collections,  an interior design facility at 118 Houston St. on the downtown square. That may be confusing to some, as S7C actually is the sign sitting outside the brothers’ “upscale garage sale” business at 224 N. Main St. The  garage sale business has grown since Danny Lee moved his Fort Worth interior design business to town last Spring.

Danny had an art gallery/design shop on Camp Bowie Boulevard and on West 7th Street in Fort Worth but said the Fort Worth vibe just wasn’t conducive to him and what he wanted to do. He began looking around and like the small-town feel of Weatherford.

“Weatherford, we have3 found, is a community that supports its businesses over time,” Danny Lee said. “Right now we’re seeing a lot of people who have found out about us coming from Granbury, Abilene Dallas, but every day we’re seeing more and more locals coming to see what we’re all about.”

Danny sees a lot of personal and business growth from moving around a lot.

“You have to take some risks in life. As a small business owner you have to keep moving,” Lee said.”What’s the worst thing that can happen (by tasking risks)? You close u shop and you move again.”

Danny, who has worked in interior design for 12 years, saw a for lease sign in the building next door to Sparks Antiques back in April. The building on Houston Street is used as more of the offices for the two buildings, which Jimmy Lee handles.

Danny Lee says the Weatherford Chamber has been extremely helpful in getting people in the door while the Fort Worth Chamber, with its immense size, sometimes seemed to forget the smaller businesses in Lee’s mind.

Moving from Fort Worth to the Weatherford area isn’t just for the business. Danny Lee says he’s building a home in Aledo.
