• All proceeds benefit Crossroads Youth Ministries of Parker County as we continue serving the many at-risk youth in our community.

• Crossroads Youth Ministries of Parker County Inc., is a non-profit organization working to promote the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of Parker County youth ages 12-18 who may be trapped in a cycle of destructive, abusive, or unhealthy behavior.

• The youth served come from a wide range of backgrounds and situations including homelessness, anger, anxiety, depression, suicidal or self harm tendencies, criminal thinking or behaviors, situations of physical, mental or emotional abuse, teenage pregnancy and more.  

• This event is our major fundraising event for the year.  Without the support of our community, we would not be able to provide life skills groups, counseling, mentoring, and activities to the many At-Risk youth in our community.

    Moritz Ride for Heroes
    •  The 12th Annual Moritz Ride for Heroes benefiting the fire departments of East Parker County and the Parker County Sheriff’s Reserve is April 19th at Aledo High School.
    • There are six routes – 8, 23, 39, 58, and 70 miles – starting at 8:30 a.m. and finishing at the high school, located just west of Fort Worth off Interstate 20.
    • Free hamburger lunch and T-shirts for riders. Early registrants also receive a chance to win a new bicycle.
    • Rest stops with fruit, sports drinks, Famous homemade cookies and other refreshments.

    East Parker County Genealogy and Historical Society
    • The East Parker County Genealogy and Historical Society invites all who are interested to join us at 10:30 a.m. in the Willow Park Community Center at Ranch House Road and Stage Coach Trail for our monthly meeting and salad luncheon, provided by the membership.
    • The program will be a computerized photography collage of Parker County photos by Lorena Friddle, president of the Parker County Women’s and Newcomer’s Society, and a 1930s video of the El Chico Ranch in Willow Park donated by early resident Bob Rothel. The video was made when his father was the ranch foreman.
    • If time allows there will also be a showing of an early (1920s) movie of Aledo, donated by the King family.

    Aggie muster
    • Former students of Texas A&M University will assemble in Willow Park on April 21st for the  annual Parker County Texas Aggie Muster in honor of all Texas Aggies who have passed away within the last year, according to Muster Chair Graham Quisenberry ‘77.
    • Muster activities will consist of a social hour (cash bar) at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., and the Muster Ceremony at 8 p.m. The muster program will take place at Tucker Red’s Banquet Hall, 4971 E. Interstate 20 Service Road North, in Willow Park.
    • Muster speaker will be Lynn Lawhon, DVM, ‘76, former past-president of the Abilene Area Veterinary Medical Association and the Abilene A&M Club, former NCAA and NFL referee, and currently owner of Brookhollow Animal Clinic in Abilene.

    CASA-Hope For Children Golf Tourney
    • The annual CASA-Hope For Children golf tournament is April 24 at Canyon West Golf Course.
    • Lunch is at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m., followed by dinner at the tournament’s end.
    • Be Fore-the Kids by becoming an event or hole sponsor. Sponsorship publicity and team prizes are included.
    • CASA-Hope For Children is a United Way agency that serves as court-appointed advocates for children placed into CPS care. The agency is currently serving more than 300 children in Parker and Palo Pinto counties.

    Do Well, Be Well series
    • The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Parker County will be offering the “Do Well Be Well with Diabetes II” class series.
    • The classes will meet April 24, May 1, 8 and 15.
    • The cost to attend all the classes is $20 per person, which will cover the entire series. The classes will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Parker County Agricultural Services Center, located at 604 N. Main St. in Weatherford.
    • “Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes” is an educational program to help people with type 2 diabetes learn the skills they need to understand and manage their diabetes, to reduce their risks for complications and to attain their highest possible level of wellness. The goal is that if you do well, you can be well with diabetes.

    East Parker County Candidates Forum
    • The East Parker County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Affairs Committee will host a candidates forum at Trinity Christian Academy in the cafeteria, 4954 East Interstate 20 Service Road South, Willow Park, TX 76087, at 7 p.m.
    Doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m.
    • The purpose of this nonpartisan forum is to allow voters to become more familiar with the candidates running for positions in the upcoming city council races in Willow Park and Annetta as well as Aledo ISD School Board elections. The forum will be conducted in a structured format with predetermined questions which will allow the candidates to present their views and vision on the role of the position for which they are running and their qualifications for that office. No questions will be allowed from the floor. Candidates will be available before the forum in the lobby and will have information tables set up with campaign materials.
    • The forum will present candidates for Willow Park City Council Place 3, 4 and 5; Annetta Place 2; and Aledo ISD School Board.
    • Moderators for the forum are EPC Legislative Affairs Committee Chair Darcy Young and EPC Director Kathy Meyer.

    Freedom House Needs bilingual English/Spanish Translators
    • Must be able to commit two to four hours at least one weekday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
    • Individuals must be at least 18 and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
    • Applicants must be willing to volunteer as a neutral party to assist client advocate with the flow of information to their Spanish-speaking clients. Volunteer interpreters should be willing to work with client advocates to gain some knowledge of what the advocate means, without embellishing or omitting important details.

    Flag fund donations, veterans needed
    • Since 1999, more than 100,000 flags have been placed on veterans’ graves in Parker County on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veteran’s Day.
