More pioneer information from members of the Half Century Club formed in November 1922. From The Weatherford Democrat, Friday, November 17, 1922:
“Mrs. M.C. PITTSFORD was born in Parker county 67 years ago, now lives in Weatherford. She has vivid recollections of Indian times and trials of the pioneers.
“Mrs. M.J. BORDEN’S came from Johnson County in time for her to be born in Parker County 71 years ago. She was reared on Clear Fork when still a wilderness.
“J.F. ELAM of Agnes community came about the time the war broke out, being too young to enlist he grew up taming the wilderness. He is now 73 years old.
“M.J. WARD is a veritable youngster among the older vets, he was born in Parker County 54 years ago. His home is 10 miles northeast of Weatherford.
“D.A. MILLER was born in Mississippi 78 years ago. He has been a resident of Parker County since 1853.
“L.A. STRATTON was born in Parker County 65 years ago. He resides near Advance and is active making crops to feed the rest of the world.
“Tom RIBBLE came to the county in 1859 and is 69 years old. He remembers the Indians with a boy’s clearness off things long gone.

“These are only a few of the big number present at the fair, many pioneers had to leave early but will be joining later.”
[Some of these names are mis-spelled but all is written as given in the newspaper. Mrs. S.O. Edwards who reported coming in 1846 might be in question. It is reported that no one lived here in the 1840s. This might be the date that she came to Texas.]
