Ladies Auxiliary Chicken Fried Steak Night at VFW Post 4746, 6 to 8 p.m. $8 per person includes chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, two vegetables, salad and bread. Cancer Aid and Research Sweetheart Dance — Live music featuring Westbound Band, 8 p.m. to midnight at VFW Post 4746, 224 Zion Hill Road. All proceeds going to Cancer Aid & Research; $5 per person.
Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway, 100 Park Road 71, Mineral Wells — Kid’s Wilderness Survival, 1 p.m. – Two and a half hour course for kids to learn what to do if they become lost. Course includes interactive games, demonstrations and hike on nature trail. Course requires kids accompanied by a parent, guardian or youth group leader. Event is free with paid admission to park, $5 per person, children 12 and under free. Reservation required (25 participants), call (940) 328-1171.

UPDATE: Due to inclement weather forecasted, the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter’s Mobile Unite which was due to be at Teskey’s Saddle Shop today is rescheduled for next Saturday, Feb. 23. We’ll have the mobile unit full of pets at Teskey’s Saddle Shop from noon until 3:30 p.m. at 3001 W. I-20, just off exit 403. The animal shelter however, located at 409 Hickory Lane off of Bankhead in Weatherford will remain open this Saturday as usual for adoptions.

Trinity Christian Academy Capital Campaign Auction, Saturday, Feb. 16, to raise funds needed to build a new secondary school building. A silent auction will be held between 2 and 4 p.m. in the gym, and a live auction at 3:15 p.m. There will be delicious home-baked desserts also. The school is located at 4954 East I-20 Service Road South in Willow Park. Auction items include a Yamaha C-3 scooter, sporting event tickets, memorabilia, collectors items, art, antiques, furniture, jewelry, restaurant packages, baskets from more than 100 vendors and associations, and much more.

Income Tax Assistance
Weatherford Public Library — The AARP will provide free tax help Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the auditorium of Weatherford Public Library on Feb. 16, 23; March 1, 8, 15, 29, there will be no help available March 22; and April 5 and 12. The library is located at 1014 Charles Street. People requesting assistance will need to bring their W-2s and any other information necessary to complete the forms. This year’s participants may make reservations by calling the library at (817) 598-4150 during regular business hours Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 2 to 6 p.m. Those with reservations will be assisted prior to walk-ins but assistance is available for all.
