The East Parker County Genealogy and Historical Society will hold its annual business meeting at the East Parker County Library on FM 1187 in Aledo at 11 a.m. Business will include election of officers, scheduling of future programs and fund-raisers, and display of newly acquired materials to be placed in the genealogy room of the library. Anyone interested in local history is welcome to attend.
Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway, 100 Park Road 71, Mineral Wells — Cross Timbers Nature Hike, 1 p.m. – Join Park Interpreter, David Owens, on a nature hike down the Water Trail that leads into beautiful Penitentiary Hollow. Weatherford Assembly of God, Faith-Family-Fellowship, presents For the Love of the Game tour featuring, Brooke Barretttsmith, Wavorly, Building 429 and Pillar. Brooke Barrettsmith is a Season 5 American Idol contestant and Building 429 has won Dove awards for song of the year and new artist of the year. Pillar is a Grammy nominated Christian Rock band with 9 No. 1 singles. The concert will be held Sunday night at the Church in Peaster. Income Tax Assistance
Senior Center — AARP will once again be offering income tax assistance every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting now through April 9. To make an appointment, see a staff member in the Senior Center office, 1225 Holland Lake Drive, or call (817) 596-4640.
Weatherford Public Library — The AARP will provide free tax help Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the auditorium of Weatherford Public Library on Feb. 23; March 1, 8, 15, 29, there will be no help available March 22; and April 5 and 12. The library is located at 1014 Charles Street. People requesting assistance will need to bring their W-2s and any other information necessary to complete the forms. This year’s participants may make reservations by calling the library at (817) 598-4150 during regular business hours Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 2 to 6 p.m. Those with reservations will be assisted prior to walk-ins but assistance is available for all.
