The Greater Fort Worth Council of the American Council of the Blind will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. at the Cook Children’s Hospital (corner of 7th St. and Terrell Ave., Fort Worth) in the Board Room adjacent to the cafeteria. Business meeting plus discussion for the balance of 2008; discuss group fund raising efforts with reference to obtaining more associate members and sustaining members.
Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway, 100 Park Road 71, Mineral Wells — Star Gazing – Beginning Astronomy, 8 p.m. at Lone Star Amphitheater (park at the State Trailway Parking Area at State Park trail head) – This event will familiarize participants with constellations of the season, and specific stars and object of interest. The program will start with a slide presentation, followed by telescope observation. Several telescopes will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring telescopes or binoculars and blanket or lawn chairs. The North Texas Gluten Intolerance Group meets at the North Richland Hills Church of Christ, 6300 NE Loop 820. Main, Weatherford, will be having two guest speakers – John Reese, president of World Bible School will be speaking to the combined adult classes at 9:30 a.m. and then at 10:30 a.m. Ken Kendall-Ball will speak including as one of his topics will be Lessons To Live By, African curriculum being created by the ladies of North Main. 20th Anniversary of Collin County – Live From Collin County - Roasted and Toasted (formerly Live From Plano), a satirical musical review benefiting four charities at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, located at the Old Collin County Courthouse in the McKinney Town Square. Included are pre-show dinner and a silent and live auction. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Assistance Center of Collin County, Child and Family Guidance Center, Crossroads Family Services, and My Possibilities. Income Tax Assistance
Senior Center — AARP will once again be offering income tax assistance every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting now through April 9. To make an appointment, see a staff member in the Senior Center office, 1225 Holland Lake Drive, Weatherford, or call (817) 596-4640.
Weatherford Public Library — The AARP will provide free tax help Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the auditorium of Weatherford Public Library April 5 and 12. The library is located at 1014 Charles Street. People requesting assistance will need to bring their W-2s and any other information necessary to complete the forms. This year’s participants may make reservations by calling the library at (817) 598-4150 during regular business hours Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 2 to 6 p.m. Those with reservations will be assisted prior to walk-ins but assistance is available for all. Stinulas Package only will be available for extra two weeks in April, Wednesdays at the Senior Center and Saturdays at the Library.
