The day after Thanksgiving, Leonard “Leo” Escobedo, 27, died due to injuries he suffered during a car accident on Highway 51 North.

Escobedo, a technician with MasterVac Industries, died moments after the crash when he was thrown from the Cadillac he was driving.

He left behind a 13-month-old son, Malakhi, and his wife, Rae.

His funeral is Thursday at 11 a.m. at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel.

A fund has been set up at First National Bank of Weatherford to help his family offset the cost of the funeral.

Rae Shaikh-Escobedo said she was out of town visiting family when her husband and teenage family friend ran to get something to eat.

The 16-year-old passenger remains in critical condition at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Family and friends agreed, Escobedo was an avid boxer, Christian and loving husband and father.

To donate to the Escobedo fund, contact First National Bank using account number 1840495.
