Dec. 5

Men’s Steak Night at VFW Post 4746, 6 to 8 p.m. $9 per person includes steak, baked potato and salad. This event repeats every month on the first Friday. Pool tournament is 8 p.m. every Friday. Non-members welcome. The VFW is located at 224 Zion Hill Road. For information, call (817) 594-7356.

Dec. 5-6

Manna Storehouse Garage Sale, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., 129 E. Spring St., Weatherford. All proceeds go to help less fortunate in Parker County with food, utility bills and prescription medicine.

Dec. 6

10th Anniversary Celebration of The Burch School of Music at the Parker Room above Fire Oak Grill, 114 Austin Ave., Weatherford, 4 to 8 p.m. during Weatherford’s annual Christmas on the Square. Free – open to public, refreshments served. Piano solo and ensemble performances by alumni and current students. Special photo gallery of students and faculty. The Annual Tour of Homes sponsored by the Legends Museum will be held in Springtown. The tour of homes will include six stops and will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The tour will begin and end at the Springtown Church of Christ on Old Cottondale Road. The elder’s wives will provide free refreshments. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 the night of the tour. Tickets my be purchased at the following places: Springtown Chamber of Commerce, Springtown Florist, Springtown Epigraph, Springtown Drug Store, and the Legends Museum. CASA of Parker County 3rd Annual Breakfast with Santa at Central Christian Church, 1602 S. Main, Weatherford. Breakfast will be served by board members and CASA volunteers with two serving times: 8 to 9:30 a.m. and 10 to 11:15 a.m. Tickets: children $10 includes photo with Santa/adults $5. Capacity is limited. Tickets available at Super Save Food Warehouse, 1314 S. Main or the CASA office at 200 Palo Pinto, Weatherford. Come out and support the children while enjoying food, fun, crafts and activities including hayrides, face painting, goodie bags, storytelling, visit with General Mills characters and much, much more.

Christ the King Covenant Church will be giving out water, hot chocolate and cupcakes again this year at the Christmas on the Square between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. Around 6 p.m. our children’s church will be performing Christmas music.

Cross Timbers Cowboy Campfire Christmas — Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway, 100 Park Road 71, Mineral Wells — Bring the whole family to the park for a Cowboy Christmas weekend. Saturday night join us at the Lone Star Amphitheater for a campfire and a program of cowboy music, poetry and sing-a-long with a Christmas theme Campfire program 6 p.m.

The Greater Fort Worth Council of the American Council of the Blind, Texas will meet at 10 a.m. at the Cook Children’s Hospital (corner of 7th Street and Terrell Avenue, Fort Worth) in the board room adjacent to the cafeteria. Program will be a business meeting covering our income and expenses for the year 2008 to date Officers reports are due. Dues should be paid by now. The North Texas Gluten Intolerance Group meets at the North Richland Hills Church of Christ, 6300 NE Loop 820. Free Celiac 101 Class begins at 9 a.m., register at education@northtexasgig.com. Regular Support Group meets at 10 a.m. Both end at noon. We will have our annual Holiday Cookie Exchange. Please bring four dozen or more GF cookies or bars to share with everyone else. Children are welcome to attend.

Christmas Open House at Millsap Community Center — 6 p.m. Frosty the Snowman will be there along with musical entertainment and refreshments. The event is sponsored by Millsap Home and Garden Club and everyone is welcome.

Dec. 11

The Gardeners’ Club of Parker County will meet at a member’s home at 10 a.m. for our annual Christmas Party. We will have a pot luck luncheon. If further information is needed, call (817) 914-6852.

Parker County 4-H will be hosting a Cyber Bullying program at 6:30 p.m. presented by Mary King of Freedom House. This program is designed to address the issues of internet safety related to youth and specifically focuses on the issue of bullying. “Alice in Wonderland, Jr.,” presented by Tison Middle School and performed in the cafeteria. Admission is $5 for all shows. Showtimes: Friday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 13, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Dec. 13

Save Our American Raptors — Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway, 100 Park Road 71, Mineral Wells — Come to the State Park and see Doris Mager, “The Florida Eagle Lady” and her birds of prey. Doris will have birds of prey to see and learn about, including a Great-horned owl, an American Kestrel and a Crested Caracara, sometimes called a Mexican Eagle. Learn the importance of our birds of prey in the wild through Doris and her birds. 10 a.m. Event is free with paid admission to the park. Entrance fees are $5 per person, children 12 and under free.

Kid’s Wilderness Survival — Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway, 100 Park Road 71, Mineral Wells — This two and a half hour course is a fun way for kids to learn what to do if they become lost. The course includes interactive games, demonstrations and a hike on the nature trail. The course requires kids accompanied by a parent, guardian or youth group leader. 1 p.m. Reservations required (number of participants, 25). Reservations (940) 328-1171. Event is free with paid admission to the park. Entrance fees are $5 per person, children 12 and under free.
