Experience Works honors the Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas

WEATHERFORD — Experience Works is pleased to announce the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Community Service Agency Award in Texas as the Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas, which is located in Weatherford. This agency, operated by Texas Neighborhood Services through the Texas Workforce Commission, provides services to 14 counties in North Central Texas. Kola Adeyeye is the manager of the local office and the Mineral Wells Workforce Center.

Experience Works operates the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) in Texas through grants from the U.S. Department of Labor and the Texas Workforce Commission. The SCSEP helps low-income older workers obtain training at community service agencies before transitioning into the workforce. Each year Experience Works hosts the Prime Time Program in an effort to remove barriers to employment and lessen negative stereotypes about older workers while advocating for their employment and celebrating their many contributions to their communities. As part of the Prime Time Awards, Experience Works recognizes an outstanding SCSEP participant and an outstanding community service agency to showcase how the SCSEP helps so many older workers and local communities across the nation. The outstanding Community Service Agency Award recognizes agencies that have trained SCSEP participants and provided exceptional support services, training, coaching or mentoring to help them in their search for employment.

According to Experience Works’ Business and Community Liaison, Phyllis Gipson, Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas was chosen because of the excellent services they provide to the Experience Works staff and the participants in training at the local center. Adeyeye encourages the participants to apply for job openings and has hired two Experience Works participants to work in his local center. When Adeyeye was asked what his center does to make the system work so well, he said “We work well as a team. It is a win, win situation. Together you and our agencies help our clients get the training and placement they need. It is a team effort.”
