Families and students from Weatherford Christian School gathered Monday night at the South Main Church of Christ Auditorium to learn more about the numerous missions that WCS partners with throughout their school year. This was a first-time event that gave families a greater insight to what each organization does and how the school is able to help make a difference in the lives of others by giving back to their community through service.
Each year WCS works with over 25 different organizations both locally and abroad to teach students the importance of giving back. The non-denominational Christian school prides itself on service within its own mission statement, “to provide a Christ-centered educational environment where children are equipped for lives of Christian leadership and service.” Center of Hope, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and Texas State Guard Toy Drive are just a few of the missions that WCS is currently serving.
Weatherford Christian School also utilized this event to introduce its newest mission partnership with Back to Life Ministries and their Take A Hand Child Sponsorship program in Haiti. Back to Life Ministries is a local non-profit gospel ministry dedicated to changing the faces of the nations by sharing God’s love through nurturing the physical and spiritual needs of the forgotten and lost children of the world. These children are given hope for a new future as Back to Life Ministries provides them with food, safe drinking water, shelter, education and discipleship.
Weatherford Christian School children in grades pre-K through 12th grade will be sponsoring one child per grade for the next year through this program. It will enable them to communicate with the children through Skype sessions, provide them with food and water, give them the opportunity for a better education and learn more about God.
“We are so excited about the Haiti mission and the opportunity to partner with such a wonderful organization,” stated Head of School Courtney McKeown. “Our families are so generous and so good to give of themselves and their resources in order to help others and we look for great things from this new partnership.”
