Food bank offers Weatherford kids free summer lunches

Almost half of Weatherford ISD students are eligible for free, reduced-price school meals.

In Weatherford this summer, Cypress View Villas is a partner with Tarrant Area Food Bank in offering free lunches to children, many of them from households struggling to replace the nutrition the children accessed from free and reduced-price school meals.

During the 2012-13 academic year, 45 percent of all Weatherford ISD school children were eligible for free and reduced-price meals, according to the Texas Education Agency. In all of Parker County, 36.5 percent of the students were eligible.

Any child under age 18 may eat at a summer site. There are no income requirements or registration. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

The free lunches offered through Tarrant Area Food Bank are being served at the following location:
