GED testing available at WC

A very important deadline is fast approaching for those seeking to complete their GED, advises Weatherford College Director of Testing Lela Morris.

The GED test is scheduled to convert to a totally computer-based test Jan. 1.

“If those testing for the GED have not completed and made the required scores in all five tests by Dec. 31, they will be required to start over,” said Morris.

To accommodate as many testers as possible, the WC Testing Center has scheduled computer-based testing Aug. 1 and Aug. 29 and Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26. The fee is $135, and scores are available immediately, except for the writing test. Anyone interested should go to www.GEDcomputer.com.

“I administered our first online GED on July 18,” said Morris. “We had seven new people and all seven passed. They all commented about loving the convenience of the online test.”

Space is limited; anyone needing to test should register and test as soon as possible. Testing will be ending by the end of November. Paper-based testing does require in person pre-registration, and the cost is $90.

For more information concerning GED testing, contact Morris, at 817-598-6488.

  • 0729 loc burch school.jpg Rainforest Camp at Burch School of Music

In June, there were seven students who explored the flora and fauna of the rainforest through music at The Burch School of Music. Each child made his or her own rain stick, along with other crafts and art work. For two hours each day for five days, students explored a different level of the rainforest, starting with the emergent layer at the top, moving through the canopy, the understory, the forest floor and the rivers. They let bats fly (black balloons) and were eaten by a boa constrictor. On the last day they dressed as natives and drummed together.
