Harvey awarded WBC scholarship

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Jordan Harvey, of Weatherford, has been awarded a President’s Scholarship to attend Williams Baptist College, a four-year liberal arts college.

The scholarship is awarded to incoming WBC students based on their college entrance examination scores.

Harvey is a senior at Weatherford High School. She is the daughter of Wade and Michelle Harvey, of Weatherford.

    In June, there were seven students who explored the flora and fauna of the rainforest through music at The Burch School of Music. Each child made his or her own rain stick, along with other crafts and art work. For two hours each day for five days, students explored a different level of the rainforest, starting with the emergent layer at the top, moving through the canopy, the understory, the forest floor and the rivers. They let bats fly (black balloons) and were eaten by a boa constrictor. On the last day they dressed as natives and drummed together.

  • Soulis named to Dean’s List at Washington University

    ST. LOUIS — Johnathon Taylor Soulis, of Weatherford, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2014 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Soulis is enrolled in the university’s School of Engineering and Applied Science.
