— Weatherford Christian School Board of Directors unanimously voted at last month’s board meeting to induct two new members, Judy Flanagin and Michael Lum.
The board now consists of nine members and is led by board President Dr. Jeff Foland.
Flanagin, born and raised in Weatherford, is currently the district director for State Rep. Phil King and works as an assistant on his campaign. She has been with King since 1991. She also holds the role of legal assistant for Eggleston Flowers & King LLP. Flanagin is a member of Greenwood Baptist Church, where she plays an active role as a Bible study leader and is a member of their mission team. She is extremely active within the local community and serves for the following organizations: vice president of Rotary Club of Weatherford; Weatherford and East Parker County chambers of commerce; member, officer and past president for the Bush Legacy Republican Women of Weatherford; Parker County Republican Women; advisory board member for the American Red Cross; Zonta Club of Weatherford; and the Women’s Business Alliance.
Flanagin has been married to her husband, Jay, for 35 years and has a true love not only for family and friends but for education as well.
“It is such a joy to be a part of an organization whose first priority is sharing the gospel with its children and their families followed by a top quality education,” Flanagin said.
“Judy brings so much to the board not only as a business leader and staple within the community but more importantly as a true person of integrity and is genuinely concerned about the entire experience a family receives while attending WCS,” said WCS’s Head of School Courtney McKeown.
Lum is the minister for South Main Church of Christ and is a native of Joshua, where his dad was the high school principal for 12 years. He has been married to his wife, Lori, for 28 years and they have three sons – 21-year-old twins and a 4 year old who attends WCS. Lum has his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Christian University and a master’s from the Harding School of Theology. He has been in ministry for nearly 30 years dealing with youth, family and educational ministry. Lum brings to this role a true heart and vision for Christian education and the spiritual development of children.
“We are so excited to have Mr. Lum as a new board member and representative of WCS. He is anxious to help in whatever way necessary and has a Christian spirit that shines for all to see,” said McKeown.
