AUSTIN – State Rep. Phil King, R-Weatherford, has announced a scholarship opportunity for eligible high school graduates from public, private, or home school within Parker and Wise counties.

Peaster Academic Challenge team places fourth
Twenty-nine high schools competed May 5 in an academic contest that resembled an athletic contest. Teams from all across Texas competed in the State Academic Challenge sponsored by the Texas Association of Community Schools.

Wiley receives Iota Chi award
Libby Wiley, art teacher at Mineral Wells High School and member of Iota Chi, the Weatherford chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, received a $270 award from her chapter to facilitate her attending the National Art Educators Association Convention in Fort Worth March 8-11.
Tarleton honor society inducts members
STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton State University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the oldest freshman academic national honor society, inducted 124 new members during its annual induction ceremony on April 15.
Little honored by Hardin-Simmons University
ABILENE – Nicole Little, of Weatherford, was named the Biology Department’s Holland Medal winner for 2013, the highest honor given by Hardin-Simmons University’s Holland School of Sciences & Mathematics, April 17.
