For many of us, every day has some sort of stress associated with it. Whether it is something at home or at work, it seems like there are a million things stressing us out and making us feel overwhelmed.
So what do you do? Maybe your first reaction is, “I want to take a vacation and get away.”
However, you know that you can’t just jump in the car or catch a plane and take off for a relaxing getaway. That doesn’t mean that you can’t take advantage of stress relieving techniques right where you are.
Following are some suggestions for getting away from all and relieving some stress no matter where you are.
Sometimes all it takes is a few minutes of quiet time to relax your mind and reduce your stress level. Look for opportunities to be by yourself for a few minutes and instead of thinking about all the stressful things that are going on around you, imagine that you are on a vacation. The details are entirely up to you.
Perhaps you want to remember a great vacation that you have already taken. A vacation that allowed you to relax and have fun. One that nourished your world and allowed you to completely decompress. Or maybe you would rather imagine a vacation that you would like to go on in the future. Picture all the details of a place that you have always wanted to go.
Whichever version you choose, visualize what the countryside looks like: imagine how the sun and breeze feels on your face. Really sink into the day dream and allow yourself to be swept away by it. It won’t take long before you feel more calm and happy. Stay as long as you can and go back as often as you need it.
