Sweet Success

Will Branstetter knows a sweet deal when he sees one. When his long-time friend, Konrad Bouffard launched his own homegrown honey company, Round Rock Honey, Will was eager to get on board.
“It’s not a job,” he said with a hearty laugh. “It’s fun.”
For more than three years, the former restaurant manager, has been peddling his unique, organic honey all over the state.
Aside from it’s crisp, clean flavor, Will said the best thing about honey is it’s health benefits.
“I love talking to people about honey,” he said. “A lot of people don’t realize how many health benefits are derived from it. it can help with cuts and burns, and it’s great for allergies.
“Everyday they are finding out more ways that honey is helpful, plus it is the only food that you can have literally forever that won’t go bad because it doesn’t support bacterial growth.”
Round Rock Honey, which is based out of both Dallas and Austin, has already garnered quite a bit of attention. On-line sales are soaring and the future is looking bright for Will and his business partner and wife Marcia Branstetter.
“Right now, we are both having so much fun at the grass roots level of selling,” Will said of his business. “We hope in the future to expand our sales and eventually we would like to land our honey in some organic grocery stores, but for now, this is great.”
