Jim and I enjoyed the food at Buffet City for three years. Suddenly, a few months ago, we went to eat and the restaurant was closed. I thought, hey, what happened? I always thought they had good crowds.
Then, one day we noticed they were open, but the name had changed. My curiosity was getting the better of me and I wanted to find out what was going on.
Jim and I stopped in this last week. Hmm. The front entrance was the same, the fountain was the same and when we walked in, the beautiful crystal chandeliers were still there.
So was Jim Jiang. He greeted us with his big smile and hearty hello! As we took our seats, I asked him what happened. He told me they had sold the restaurant to a man in Dallas, but he remained with them since he and Vicky had made their home in Weatherford.
He said they had added some new equipment and made some other changes, but essentially they were still serving good Chinese food.
I noticed some of my old favorites were still being offered and Jim and I filled our plates. I started out with the egg drop soup, which I love. From there we tried all the chicken dishes, some of the shrimp and the crispy egg rolls.
Jim Jiang said they had added several dishes of baked seafood and some fried dumplings. I tried the dumplings and they are good.
I noticed they still had my favorite fruit, the Chinese loquats. They have a lovely clean taste.
The desserts are still some of the best. There is something for everyone. Just save room for them while you are piling your plate high with the Chinese entrees.
One thing has changed. If you want water, they will give you a bottle of water rather than letting you drink the Weatherford water. Now that is costing him extra, but he wants his customers to enjoy their food and drink.
You can still do buffet take out and order party trays. Their phone number is (817) 599-5568. Jim and Vicky will make sure you enjoy your dining experience with them. I know we enjoyed seeing them again and I’m glad they are still a part of Weatherford.
Stop in and tell them hello and be prepared to enjoy your Chinese food once again.
