Consumer Health Services release scores

WEATHERFORD — The City of Weatherford Consumer Health Inspector has the responsibility of inspecting more than 200 food service establishments in the community. These establishments include delicatessens, restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, schools, and nursing homes that are placed on a rotating inspection schedule consistent with the Texas Food Establishment Rules.

Inspections are based on a prescribed demerit system that includes time and temperature requirements, personnel, handling and source requirements. The demerit system corresponds to a numerical score of 1 to 100, 100 being the maximum positive score.

Consumer health inspections shall conduct all inspections and/or re-inspections to insure the public health is protected and establishments involved in food handling maintain safe practices.

The following are inspections and re-inspections conducted in January 2008.

There were five re-inspections conducted. Investigated and reported on six complaint inspections. There was one mobile food unit pre-opening inspection conducted. The department conducted one regular food handler class and one on-site class with a total of 52 food service employees in attendance. One certified food manager class was conducted with 8 managers present.
