Neighbors report attic blaze

— WEATHERFORD — An alert neighbor noticed smoke coming from the attic window of a home on Valley Ranch Road Tuesday and called for local fire departments.
Five engines from Weatherford and Hudson Oaks departments were dispatched to deal with reported “heavy fire” from the attic of a single story home at 241 Valley Ranch Road.
A Wednesday release from the Weatherford Fire Department reported the home sustained an estimated $60,000 in damage.
“Although most of the fire was in the attic,” the release stated, “the home did sustain quite a bit of smoke damage.”
The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
According to the release, the blaze does not appear to be suspicious in nature, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
