Weatherford Fire Lieutenant Jim Bradford was injured in an abandoned farm house fire Sunday around 8:30 p.m. at Interstate 20 and Highway 51 South.
City Fire Marshal Kurt Harris returned to the scene Monday afternoon to investigate what started the blaze.
Harris said the building burned to the ground and there was evidence it was used as some type of shelter. Officials are still looking into the cause.
The 800-square-foot building, located in the 100 block of Alford Drive, off the Interstate access road was a total loss.
Harris said the farm house was fully involved in flames as firefighters arrived on scene.
Fire personnel extinguished a grass fire which spread to surrounding property and had to cut down dead wood surrounding the structure.
Bradford was injured when a wall slipped from the foundation and fell on him, possibly fracturing his foot.
Hudson Oaks and Greenwood Fire Departments assisted in the blaze.
