Fear of the IRS

Dear editor:

When Marx and Engels wrote the Communist Manifesto in 1848, they presented ten steps necessary to destroy any free enterprise system and replace it with Communism. Step number two is to establish a heavy progressive or graduated income tax. At that time, this country did not have an income tax. It took 65 years for the progressives to sell it to the American people. Back then, it was hard to realize the dangers it brought to this nation. Today, we can see why Marxism considers it a necessary tool to bring down any productive nation and turn it into a Socialist State.

The House Ways and Means Committee (HW&M) oversees the IRS and is considering proposals to fix our tax system. Recent abuses demand the replacement of the IRS and it’s 70,000+ pages of regulations. Kevin Brady (a ranking member of HW&M recently wrote, “Americans shouldn’t fear the IRS”.

I disagree.

Every citizen should fear the IRS and should have feared it 100 years ago. The Marxist knew then it would grow into the monster it is today. I agree with the remainder of Mr. Brady’s article promoting the Fair Tax.

  • Letters to the Editor: Showing respect

Dear Editor, My sister Robbie Benton’s funeral was Friday afternoon at White’s Funeral Home. The gravesite was outside of Mineral Wells. The respect shown by the good folks of Parker County and the surrounding area was overwhelming. I would say at least 90 percent of drivers pulled over in respect of the loss of life.

    Dear Editor,

I have been intrigued about few human rights issues in foreign countries, but look at what exists in the United States.

  • Letters to the Editor: Protecting Medicare Advantage

As one of over 14 million Americans who rely on a Medicare Advantage policy for my medical needs, I know it is crucial for Washington to protect the Advantage program’s budget. The Affordable Care Act already slashed $200 billion from the program. It would be a mistake to dismantle a program that produces better healthcare results than regular Medicare, while often costing seniors much less in the process.

  • Letters To The Editor: Kelly response

In a recent column, William Kelly stated his opposition to abortion and asked the question, “What do you think?” Well, I think we should all publically express our gratitude to CVS for their announced plan to stop selling tobacco products.

  • Letters To The Editor: Entitlement mentality

Traffic law violations seem to be changing. During the 25 years I spent driving in Parker and Tarrant counties, it was usually the young men and women in small sporty cars that ran the red lights, stop and yield signs and regularly grossly exceeded the posted speed limits.

  • Letters to the Editor: Stop the bailout

Dear Editor, The administration and congress knew that ObamaCare would fail but have had a plan all along to bail out the private insurance companies that supported the law with taxpayer money. Of course, this plan was kept hidden from American citizens that are already burdened by taxes. Congress should do everything it can to stop this disastrous bill.
