Gilberts celebrate 50th anniversary

Dr. Bill and Pat Gilbert, of Weatherford, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Bill and Pat grew up in Port Arthur, Texas. Pat attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton and Bill attended Baylor University in Waco. They were married Jan. 26, 1963, in Port Arthur. After the wedding, the couple lived in Waco, where Bill completed his degree at Baylor University.

Bill served in the field of education for 43 years. He was principal in Waco and Everman, and the superintendent of Hyde Park Baptist Schools in Austin. He alo served in several positions in the College of Education at Dallas Baptist University, including the associate dean.

Pat has served for a total of 27 years in Christian education as the director of the Day School and children’s minister at First Baptist Church in Waco, children’s minister at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Wroth, children’s minister at First Baptist Church of Dallas and Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin.

The Gilberts have three children: Phil Gilbert and his wife, Lisa, of Southlake; Tim Gilbert and his wife Danice, of Whitewright; and Dan Gilbert (deceased), from Weatherford. They also have six precious grandchildren.

The Gilberts moved to Weatherford 11 years ago and are now retired. They both enjoy and have come to appreciate Weatherford and the wonderful people that live here.

“Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.” Psalm 36:5-6.
