Volunteer firefighters in Poolville are hoping a new military truck will give them the extra capability they need to deal with dangerous fire conditions this summer.
According to Poolville’s chief, Lannie Fulton, the military truck has three times the carrying capacity of the department’s other two brush trucks.
“We are missing that one big truck that we need, and we came across a deal,” Fulton said.
However, volunteers still need to outfit the truck with tanks, pumps and other necessary equipment.
In the tradition of all volunteer departments, Poolville is asking for some help from the community it protects.
Volunteers and their families are scheduled to host their annual chili supper Saturday, at the Poolville Volunteer Fire Department, south of the square in Poolville.
Fulton is encouraging members of the community to enjoy a hot bowl of chili donated by Salt Creek Grocery in Poolville.
Proceeds will go toward outfitting the military brush truck.
