Runaway found in local park after caller

After seeing his photo in The Weatherford Democrat, and after reading the article about his disappearance, Matthew “Matt” Ybarra called home Thursday evening.

Ybarra’s mother, Dolores Walsh, was ecstatic to hear from her son.

“He’s OK,” she said sobbing through her tears Thursday, even though Matt did not return home.

Later that evening, an anonymous caller spotted Matt at McGratton skate park on North Main Street and recognized him from the photo printed in the Democrat, accompanying the article.

The caller notified Weatherford Police, who called Matt’s mother, Dolores Walsh, around 8 p.m.

“We ran up there,” Walsh said.

He was with a group of three boys who denied being with Matt during his eight-day disappearance.

Matt was uncooperative with his parents and authorities and was taken to a Granbury juvenile detention center.

Walsh said court proceedings begin Monday.
