Dems gather to select convention delegates

WEATHERFORD — Democratic officials and volunteers are preparing for what is expected to be a party convention unlike any before in Parker County.
This is an event that draws very low attendance in most years.
The delegates elected in the precinct conventions after the primary will gather to choose the 29 delegates that will go to the state convention in June.
These few delegate positions are being hotly contested in many cases by people who have never before been involved.
This is in contrast to most elections when these jobs go begging, according to a release from County Democratic Chair Deborah Cascino.
Only delegates who were elected March 4 will be able to actively participate, but all alternates are being urged to attend.
The event will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hall Middle School.
