Deputies make many April arrests

Staff Reports Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 36-year-old Weatherford man April 13 after responding to a disturbance call in the 7100 block of Comanche Trail around 7 p.m. According to a sheriff’s report, deputies found the man hiding in some bushes in a neighbor’s yard when they attempted to detain him for investigation. The report also stated the suspect fled, leading deputies on a lengthy foot chase. During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly threw a phone battery at the officers and continued to flee. Deputies subdued the man a short time later and took him into custody. The man, identified as Richard Lee McCormick, was charged with a misdemeanor of evading detention from an officer. According to the report, alcohol consumption was likely a factor in the incident. McCormick was booked into the Parker County Justice Center and later posted $1,000 bail. A routine traffic stop April 13 landed a Weatherford man in jail for possession of marijuana. According to a sheriff’s arrest report, deputies observed Marcelo Nuncio Jr., 37, operating a vehicle in the 200 block of Cowboy’s Lane with an expired registration. Deputies stopped Nuncio, who later gave them permission to retrieve his wallet and identification from behind the seat of his car. Officers discovered a small baggie of suspected marijuana along with the man’s wallet. Nuncio was arrested for misdemeanor possession and posted $1,000 bail. Deputies charged a Fort Worth woman with two counts of identity theft April 13, stemming from an April 4 burglary in the 100 block of Meadow Crest Drive in Eastern Parker County. An arrest warrant obtained by sheriff investigators was issued for 23-year-old Andrea Marlena Watts who was identified as passing a stolen credit card from the burglary. According to investigators, Watts passed the card at two area convenience stores, in the 13000 and 9800 blocks of White Settlement Road in Fort Worth. Watts was jailed on two counts of fraudulent use of identifying materials and posted $15,000 bail. April 14, deputies also arrested a 41-year-old Springtown woman on possession marijuana charges. According to a sheriff’s arrest report, deputies stopped Terry Lea Hester’s vehicle for a traffic violation on Bethel Road around 7 p.m. The report stated Hester admitted to having an open container and marijuana in her vehicle. Deputies recovered a small quantity of the suspected substance from her purse and placed her under arrest for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. She was booked into the county jail and was released on $1,000 bail. A 35-year-old Springtown man remains jailed following a domestic disturbance reported April 14. Deputies responded to the 4500 block of Highway 199 East near Springtown around 10 a.m. In the investigation that ensued, the man’s wife told deputies her husband, who was on parole, had possession of firearms and drugs in their home. She also alleged he accosted her with a firearm during an ongoing domestic dispute. Deputies discovered a handgun and rifle inside the residence, along with suspected Xanax tablets and marijuana. George Dewayne Kessinger was taken into custody and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated assault, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance under 28 grams. Kessinger has also been charged with violation of parole. Investigators charged a Mineral Wells woman April 16 with theft, ranging from $20,000 to $100,000 stemming from an April 11 investigation, regarding the theft of jewelry from a residence in the 200 block of Ballew Springs Road. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Audrey Darlene Harper, 28, of Mineral Wells. An arrest warrant alleged Harper stole 10 pieces of jewelry valued at around $25,000 from the bedroom of the victim, who was said to be an acquaintance of Harper’s. Deputies contacted the Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Department for assistance who later located Harper and arrested her on an unrelated charge. During that arrest, PPSO deputies recovered the jewelry believed taken in the Parker County theft. Harper was last reported still in custody in the Palo Pinto County Jail. Deputies arrested a Millsap man April 23 on harassment charges stemming from a complaint regarding repetitive and annoying phone calls allegedly placed by the man to a family member’s home April 9. An arrest warrant procured by Sheriff’s Investigators named 52-year-old Robert Wayne Valentine as making 15 calls and sending eight e-mails to the victim regarding a domestic dispute between the parties. Valentine was released from the Parker County Jail on $1,000 bail. 36-year-old Charles Lynn Newton, of Springtown, was arrested on misdemeanor theft charges April 19. His arrest resulted from a March investigation into the theft of a 10-foot commercial trailer reportedly stolen March 24 from the 1300 block of Northwest Parkway in Azle. The arrest affidavit stated Newton was stopped on a traffic violation around 10 p.m. by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers who observed the trailer in-tow. The trailer was said to have not been reported stolen at the time of the stop. Troopers later relayed information which identified Newton to sheriff investigators who obtained a warrant for his arrest. According to the investigators, the trailer was recovered in Hurst. Newton is free on $2,000 bail. Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 25-year-old Parker County man on domestic violence assault charges April 23 stemming from an assault report made by the man’s wife earlier this year. Justin Michael Hartigan was wanted on an arrest warrant issued in February. According to an affidavit, Hartigan is accused of repeatedly striking his wife with a closed fist during an argument Jan. 21. The affidavit stated the victim reported she was attempting to flee their home when the assault happened. Hartigan was released on $10,000 bail with certain bond conditions placed upon his release. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said each of the arrests would be submitted to the district or county attorneys offices for consideration of prosecution.
