Local girl cited for 911 call

WEATHERFORD - The North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Weatherford Police Department will honor 11-year-old Reagan Pace for the poised 911 phone call she made on April 19 when her father was having a seizure. Reagan was home with her father when he had an active seizure. Reagan dialed 9-1-1 and spoke to dispatcher Tina Mahoney at the Weatherford Police Department. Mahoney asked Reagan to stay on the phone while she sent emergency personnel to the residence. The recording of the 911 call depicts Reagan remaining calm and answering all of the call taker’s questions. She followed instructions to unlock the front door and turn on the outside porch light for the responders. Since the incident, Reagan’s father has recovered.

Children under the age of 12 are recognized as 9-1-1 Heroes for knowing when to call 9-1-1, keeping calm in an emergency situation, and by following the call taker’s instructions. “Reagan used 9-1-1 at the right time, stayed calm, and did everything she was supposed to do in an emergency—she’s a real 9-1-1 Hero!” stated Christie Eskew, 911 Public Educator with the North Central Texas Council of Governments. On Wednesday, Reagan will receive a certificate of achievement and a 911 Hero T-shirt at a presentation to be held at the Trinity Christian Academy in Willow Park.
