A 23-year-old Weatherford man led Weatherford Police officers on a brief foot chase after they responded to a domestic call Tuesday night.
Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of West Park Avenue, at the Quest Inn concerning a disruptive dispute.
Once the man was identified as Justin Westbrook, the responding officer radioed to dispatch that he was familiar with the suspect from previous calls and arrests.
When officers arrived on scene, they attempted to make contact with Westbrook, he fled on foot.
“He was only able to run a few yards before he was stopped by pursuing officers and taken into custody,” stated a police blotter report.
Weatherford Police Detective Wendy Field said Westbrook was involved in the verbal dispute with a girlfriend or wife.
“We’re not sure what the argument was over,” Field said.
Westbrook was arrested and charged with evading arrest/detention. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants for two counts of failure to maintain financial responsibility, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and for two counts of possessing an open container.
He was taken to the Parker County Justice Center.
As of press time, Westbrook remained in custody on a $2,854 bond.
Westbrook had been arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Weatherford Police Department and the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.
His prior charges include public intoxication with three prior convictions, several counts of driving while license invalid and several counts of driving while intoxicated.
