Alexander takes reins of WD ad department

Renae Alexander is glad to be home.
The Godley native has returned to the Lone Star State to run The Weatherford Democrat advertising department after about a year-and-a-half as the ad director in Meridian, Miss.
“I decided it was too far away from my children and grandchildren,” she said. “It was time for me to come home.”
Renae and her husband, Lake, a retired lineman with TXU, have four children and five grandchildren between them.
“And number six is on the way,” she said.
The kids live in Cleburne and Joshua. Just a short Harley ride away for the motorcycle enthusiasts.
Alexander has come full circle after starting her newspaper career at the Democrat in 1992. She began in the composing department before moving to Cleburne. She worked in composing at the Times-Review, also, eventually moving into advertising where she worked for 15 years as a sales rep.
After Lake retired, Alexander accepted a sales management position at the Port Arthur newspaper, serving in that capacity during Hurricane Rita. From Port Arthur, she moved to Meridian, then home to Texas.
North Texas has undergone some changes since she moved a way from the area.
“It has really grown since I left,” she said. “There are a lot of new things in town. A lot of growth. I can see a lot more growth coming. It’s very exciting.”
Renae says Weatherford offers a little bit of everything.
“It has the homey feeling of a small town, but all the amenities of a big city,” she said. “I think we’re going to love it here. This is back to my roots.”
