Special to the Democrat
Parker County Assessor-Collector Larry Lippincott recently announced the availability of the latest version of the “Lone Star Proud for Kids” specialty license plate, which is available to anyone in Texas driving a passenger car or light truck.
The plates are $30 annually in addition to the regular vehicle registration fee. $22 is to be dedicated to the program called Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), which is a public and privately funded program that provides community volunteers as a “voice in court” for abused and neglected children. Eight dollars of the fee goes to the Texas Department of Transportation for making the plate.
“The Lone Star Proud for Kids license plate is a wonderful way to join the fight against child abuse,” Lippincott said. “Money raised from the plate is used right here in Parker County and throughout Texas to recruit volunteers to help abused and neglected kids.
Motorists can apply for the Lone Star Proud plates at the tax assessor’s office, or by visiting the CASA Web site, where you can see an image of the license plate. The license plate can also be ordered with a credit card by phone by calling (877) TX4-CASA.
