Hudson Oaks’ new City Hall almost done

Members of the Hudson Oaks municipal government are getting ready for new digs.

According to Mayor Pat Deen, the city’s administration is expected to be in its new offices on Lakeshore Drive within three weeks.

According to Deen, who has been in Hudson Oaks for a decade, the most precious amenity the new building offers is space.

The city currently resides in a training room in the combination Fire/Police Department.

“Ever since I’ve been here,” he said, “we’ve been cramped for space, just busting at the seams.”

The move will take city offices out of the city’s public service building and will leave fire and police only in the location at Highway 180 and Oakridge Drive.

Deen is pleased with the new municipal building.

“It turned out well,” he said. “It will give us room to operate as a city.”

Deen said planning for the building allowed for some vacant areas as a buffer against future growth.

“There are some open work spaces,” he said, “we are anticipating growth. This will be a good city hall for 20 or 30 years.”
